WASHINGTON (AP) - Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump are winners in Mississippi. Clinton continues to ride a wave of support from black voters in Southern states. And Trump edged out Texas Sen. Ted Cruz to post his 13th state victory of the 2016 White House race.
Exit polls indicate Hillary Clinton won nearly 9 in 10 black voters in Mississippi and also made inroads with groups that have been supporting Bernie Sanders. The economy ranked high on the list of concerns for voters heading to the polls in Michigan and Mississippi.
In Kentucky, Democrats will keep their majority in the state House of Representatives. Four seats were up for grabs in a special election, and Democrats have won three of them. The victories mean Democrats will have 53 members in the 100-seat Kentucky House of Representatives. It's the last legislative chamber in the South still controlled by Democrats.
