A coffee chain in Chico is helping local high school athletics with a few perks.

The Dutch Bros coffee shops in Chico will donate $1 from every drink sold to various high school sport booster programs around the area.

Dutch Bros Chico owner Dan Richardson said he hopes the money will help the teams with their daily grind.

"High school sports encourage a vibrant, active lifestyle as well as teach many valuable life lessons," Richardson said. "Unfortunately, budget issues have had an impact on our local high school sports."

The location at 480 E. Park Avenue will donate proceeds to Durham High School, the 2393 Cohasset Rd. location to Pleasant Valley High School and the 1733 Esplanade location to Chico High School. Funds will benefit the high school's sports booster programs as they continue to provide support to their athletic programs.

Students and teachers know the funds raised will help a latte.
