Trinity County says no to State of Jefferson

The Trinity County Board of Supervisors have voted against joining the movement to secede from California and create the State of Jefferson.

After hearing from months of testimony from the public, the supervisors opted to decline support for the 51st state, and voted to adopt a pro-California declaration, that had been proposed by Keep It California PAC, a non-partisan political action committee.

After the decision Trinity County’s Jefferson supporters vowed to continue their efforts, while Keep It California spokesman, Kevin Hendrick commended the supervisors, saying “it simply defies logic to suggest that you can cluster all of the poorest counties in California and somehow end up with a prosperous new state.”

Seven counties, including Tehama, Glenn and Yuba, have already publicly declared their support for the State of Jefferson.
