A trial date has been set for an Oroville man accused of shooting and killing another man on Highway 70 last fall.
Ker Vang, 22, will stand trial starting September 21. Vang is facing a half dozen criminal charges, including first degree murder, assault with a firearm with an allegation of great bodily injury, shooting at an occupied motor vehicle and three additional counts of assault with a deadly weapon with a gang enhancement.
Prosecutors say Vang shot and killed 19-year old Jar Pao while he drove on Highway 70 near Nelson Avenue in Oroville last October. A second man suffered serious injuries after being shot through the cheek.
Butte County District Attorney Mike Ramsey says the shooting was a case of mistaken identity. If convicted on all charges Vang faces 50 years to life in prison.
