A trial date has been set for the man accused of starting a string of Shasta County fires, including the Clover Fire which burned over 8,000 acres, destroyed 68 homes and left one men dead last year.
Zane Peterson plead not guilty at his arraignment and is set to stand trial beginning on May 27, 2015.
Peterson allegedly started a series of fires between September and November of 2013. Earlier this month a Shasta County judge ruled that Peterson will be held to stand trial after seven Cal Fire officials were called to testify in a preliminary hearing, all claiming their evidence points to Peterson as the arsonist responsible for not only the Clover Fire, but a series of fires.
Peterson's attorney said a lot of the evidence presented by the prosecution during the preliminary hearing still needs more investigation.
