More than a hundred cowboys competed in a weekend long rodeo in Gridley at the Butte County Fairgrounds. All ages were welcomed to participate in the Tri-Counties Junior and Amateur Rodeo. The junior rodeo secretary Tammie McElroy says, this is the 18th annual year and since it is a free event, each year they must lasso in enough sponsors to help them put on the family fun, but she says even though no one is paid for hosting the rodeo, the inspiring young cowboys are well worth it. Those with the highest scores in each category received a belt buckle and the two who got the overall most points were rewarded with a saddle.
