The Chico Police Department arrested a 24-year-old female transient for stabbing another transient in an alley-way east of and parallel to Mangrove Avenue north of Palmetto Avenue just after midnight on December 17.

On the previously mentioned date and time a 49-year-old man, whose name is being withheld, was in the alley-way when he was confronted by a 24-year-old female who reportedly began screaming at him for no apparent reason, according to the Chico Police Department. The victim, identified as a transient by the department, stated the female stabbed him in the arm with a knife then rode away on her bicycle down the alley. Before the victim was transported to the hospital to be treated for nonlife threatening injuries, he gave officers a description of the suspect.

A female matching the suspect description was located several blocks away from the attack and was positively identified by a witness as the one who attacked the male transient. The woman, later identified as Talara M. Cavalli, discarded the knife while fleeing the scene but directed officers to the location where she threw it and it was recovered by officers.

Cavalli was booked into the Butte County Jail for assault with a deadly weapon and violation of probation.
