Transient Arrested in Chico for beating property manager

A property manager is violentlly assaulted in east Chico today after asking a transient to leave the property. Chico Police say a tenant at the apartment complex in the two-thousand block of Forest Avenue, near Springfield Avenue, reported to the property manager that a transient was camping on the property. The manager made contact with the man about 8:20 this morning and asked him to collect his belongings and leave the property.

The victim stated that the suspect, identified as 53-year old Shane Rushing, responded by attacking him. The suspect allegedly punched him several times in the face and then hit him with a bicycle.

The victim suffered a significant injury to his face as a result of the attack.

The Rushing was located nearby and arrested on a felony charge of battery inflicting great bodily injury.
