Transient activity has gotten so bad in parts of Redding, the city has decided to remove all the benches in one local park.

Neighbors living near Parkview Riverfront Park have been complaining about overnight transient activity for several months. Others have been calling city officials to complain, saying the park is now littered with transient camps, meaning they can’t enjoy walking in the area.

The city has decided to remove six benches from the park, the hope is that it will drive transients out of the immediate area.

Officials plan on reinstalling the benches early next year.
