Traffic Stop Near Willows Turns Into Major Cocaine Bust

A traffic stop by California Highway Patrol led to a major cocaine bust by authorities during the weekend.

Investigator say the California Highway Patrol stopped on a vehicle north bound on Interstate 5, north of Willows for vehicle violations on Saturday.

During a search, CHP Officers located a hidden compartment with a suspected controlled substance inside.

CHP requested the assistance of the Glenn Interagency Narcotics Task Force to continue the investigation. During a subsequent search of the vehicle, agents located 9 kilograms of cocaine in a hidden compartment with an approximate street value of $900,000

The driver, Isidro Martinez-Olmos, age 25 of Portland, Oregon and passenger, Jose Hernandez-Ruiz, age 36 of Vancouver, Washington were both arrested and booked into the Glenn County Jail on the drug possession, transportation and false compartment charges.
