SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - San Francisco police say two suspects have been arrested in the mugging and shooting of a tourist who was attacked in Russian Hill neighborhood, known for its iconic winding stretch of Lombard Street.
Officer Albie Esparza tells The San Francisco Chronicle (http://bit.ly/1LzGwfG ) the victim, believed to be from Thailand, was sightseeing on Lombard Street Tuesday when two muggers stole his camera and one of them shot him in the shoulder when he started to chase them.
Esparza says the robbers jumped into a red sedan and sped away, but an officer spotted the getaway vehicle driving onto the Bay Bridge and gave chase. Both were eventually detained in the East Bay.
The victim was in stable condition at a hospital and expected to be released Tuesday night.
The names of the victim and the two men under arrest were not immediately released.
