Good news for the Torres Community Shelter in Chico.
Brad Montgomery, Torres Shelter’s Executive Director, said the shelter has raised enough funds to continue providing services through September.
Since announcing a financial crisis on January 27, the non-profit has been able to collect $100,000.
The homeless shelter could still go in the red, though, since it's monthly budget is $50,000.
While thankful for all of the community support Montgomery said it will take consistent donations to ensure a situation like this doesn't happen again.
"What I’m concerned is that we might fall in the same pattern that got us here in the first place of only having a couple of months of income at a time,” he said. “What we need to do is build long term stability."
The "People Helping People" program allows community members to sign up for monthly donations.
The shelter has events planned through June to continue fundraising efforts.
