Chico Nissan Hyundai is stepping up for a fifth year to support local school athletic programs, by donating a brand new 2014 Nissan Sentra for the "Almond Bowl Car Giveaway."
The Almond Bowl football game between rivals Chico High School and Pleasant Valley High School has been a longstanding tradition since 1967.
But Budget cuts and lack of funding, has CHS and PV Sports Boosters working hard to raise money.
The car will be raffled off during halftime at University Stadium. Tickets are $20, and proceeds will go to both Chico and Pleasant Valley High School athletic
programs, depending on how many tickets each school sells.
"Athletics is the pulse of any high school," said Chico Nissan Hyundai Owner Brian Bowen. "Without
funds and community support, the students stand to lose out on a quintessential high school experience."
The 2014 Almond Bowl is Friday, October 24th. Raffle tickets can still be purchased from student athletes, parents and at Chico Nissan, 575 Manzanita Avenue.
They'll also be sold at the game until the end of the first quarter.
There is no ticket purchase limit and ticketholders are not required to be present to win. License and sales tax will be covered by CHS and PVHS Sports Boosters.
Over the last five years, Chico Nissan Hyundai has helped raise over $500,000 for local sports programs.
