Pretty soon, we'll all be seeing CHP officers cruising around in something other than a Crown Vic. They're rolling out the new Ford Police Interceptor statewide. With the new car, comes new training.
Thunderhill Raceway in Willows is typically known for their recreational use, but today they did a public service-- CHP Familiarization training. CHP officers statewide will receive the training. The rollout of the new car started last year and will eventually be the only car the officers drive.
The new cars feature a new technology, the Electronic Stability Control feature. All Fords made after 2013 will have it.
The course designed by the CHP simulates over stearing and helps officers know what it will feel like when the sensors activate.
