Redding fire crews are on the scene of a three alarm fire that has fully engulfed a downtown office building.

The building is on the 1600 block of Oregon Street across the street from the post office.

The Redding Fire Department was dispatched to the scene at 10:51 a.m. Crews have shut down Oregon Street at Yuba Street and Placer Street and area buildings have been evacuated.

Initial reports say that an electrician was working in the attic and employees heard a loud pop. Employees grabbed fire extinguishers and attempted to put the fire out, but it grew too quickly.

The Redding Fire Department has all eight of their engines on the scene and Shasta County Fire crews have also been called to assist.

At this time no flames are visible and firefighters are on the roof cutting a vent.

At this time no injuries have been reported.

Action News Now will have a live report at noon.
