Thousands remain without power across the North State

A wet and windy storm that slammed into northern California over the weekend has more than 6,000 North State Pacific Gas and Electric customers still without power.

Forecasters say the storm appears to be over, but PG&E crews are still working to restore power to 5,000 customers in Plumas County and another 1,300 in Shasta County. In Plumas County, the affected communities include Lake Almanor, Greenville, Spanish Creek, Bucks Lake and Westwood, while in eastern Shasta County customers are without power in McArthur, Cassel and Old Station, and Burney.

PG&E officials say they hope to have power restored by Monday night and have brought in crews from as far away as Fresno and electric workers from Oregon and Washington.
