A bus driver for Thermalito Union School District landed herself in jail after showing up for her route drunk.
Last Monday morning, an anonymous citizen called Oroville Police to tell them bus driver Kimberly Oxley was drunk driving to work.
She arrived late, but before she could begin her route, was arrested for driving her personal vehicle drunk.
Oroville Assistant Police Chief Al Byers says Oxley has no prior history with the department and adds they're looking into additional charges for Oxley attempting to drive a bus that day.
"Our concern was getting her off the road and we filed the proper paperwork for administrative action to make sure hopefully she will not get her bus license back," Byers said.
Byers tells Action News Now they believe she was drinking up until two hours before she was arrested at the bus yard.
Thermalito Union School District Superintendent Julian Diaz said Oxley is a good person but showed bad judgment.
The district will determine Oxley's employment fate after this week, when Oxley will have a chance to state her case through a Skelly hearing.
