The Chico Nuts Prepare for the West Regional

The Chico Nuts had a pretty spectacular weekend in the American Legion State Tournament, defeating Petaluma twice in a row on Sunday to capture the program's second California State Championship in four seasons. The Nuts now advance on to the West Regional which begins on Thursday in Surprise, Arizona. It's an 8 team double elimination tournament, where the Nuts will square off against other state champions, with the winner moving on to the American Legion World Series in North Carolina. One thing that has the Nuts feeling pretty good is that the team they beat twice on Sunday, Petaluma, won last year's West Regional and went on to finish second in the World Series, so if Chico can beat them they can beat just about anybody.
