The Tehama County District Attorney’s Office announced Wednesday that they have formally filed charges against a Rancho Tehama woman accused of holding her 9-year-old daughter at knife point.

The incident happened early Monday morning when the Tehama County Sheriff’s Office responded to a hostage situation on Stagecoach Road in Rancho Tehama, where 30-year-old Samantha Anne Elliot was holding her 9-year-old-daughter at knife point inside a house.

Deputies attempted to negotiate with Elliot, who was holding in a bedroom holding a steak knife to the throat of her daughter. Negotiations went on unsuccessfully for about two hours, and Elliot was eventually shot with a non-lethal weapon, and the girl was rescued.

District Attorney Gregg Cohen says Elliot has been charged with false imprisonment and assault of her child with a deadly weapon.

Cohen says this is not the first time Elliot has been accused of child endangerment, and sadly the incident involved the same child she held at knife point Monday morning. In 2008, Elliot and her ex-boyfriend, Victor Matthew Conner were convicted of felony child endangerment. Elliot served six years in prison.
