Tehama County residents returning home after flooding

Tehama County residents who were forced to evacuate Wednesday night are returning home, but some neighborhoods are still three feet underwater.

On Electric Avenue near Dairyville, fences have been knocked over, Christmas decorations are buried by water, and public works department is in the area coordinating cleanup efforts.

Public Works officials are still trying to determine exactly what caused such severe flooding. Officials say Dye Creek overflowed, but crews have to wait for water levels to recede before they can determine whether or not the levee broke.

Tehama County Sheriff's Officials say at least three people had to be rescued after they became trapped in their homes. Authorities say only minor injuries were reported.
