Tehama County authorities are searching for a swimmer last seen struggling to keep his head above water near the Antelope Boulevard Bridge Wednesday evening.

Bystanders called the sheriff's office just before 5 p.m. Wednesday, saying a man swimming in the Sacramento River near the Antelope Boulevard Bridge pylons had gone under water and not re-surfaced.

The sheriff's office, along with a California Highway Patrol air unit, and search and rescue teams combed the area into the night, but were unable to find the man.

The man's identity has not been confirmed at this time, but search and rescue teams plan on continuing the search Thursday.
