Tehama County Sheriff Dave Hencratt is preparing to ask the Board of Supervisors to declare a local state of emergency following Wednesday's storm that caused widespread flooding.
Sheriff Hencratt told Action News Now today that his request comes after an initial damage assessment indicated that about 100 homes and business suffered damage due to storm, which triggered flash flooding conditions in several areas.
The emergency declaration is expected to help the county and flood victims in line for relieve from a variety of local, regional and state agencies.
Meanwhile, Hencratt said the county and other local agencies are preparing for the next storm, which is expected to arrive Wednesday night and last through Thursday. Hazardous conditions brought by heavy rains and high winds are being forecasted by the National Weather Service.
