Businesses, community leaders and residents of Red Bluff are coming together to try and stop an expansion of the Tehama County Jail.
County administrators have a plan to build a new jail annex in downtown Red Bluff, but a lot of people aren’t too happy about it.
The plans call for the jail, located at Madison and Oak Streets to expand across the street to where the Tehama County Library currently sits.
Residents say the county plans to close down Madison Street in front of the jail, and plan on moving the library to an out-of-the-way location.
Notices were sent out last week announcing a community meeting Monday night, but residents say they haven’t had enough time to organize their opposition.
The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. Monday at the Tehama County Board of Supervisors Chambers.
