A Tehama County inmate who died back in January, died of a heart attack, the sheriff's office announced Monday.
Edward Jay Robinson, 62, was found unresponsive on the floor of a cell by corrections officers January 20. He was found just minutes after he was transported to an observation cell for being disruptive in a jail housing unit.
After being placed in the Observation Cell at 7:29 a.m. Robinson was checked on by jail staff at 7:42 a.m. and again at 7:55 a.m. and was found to be breathing. During a routine check of the cell area at 8:02 a.m. Jail Staff found Robinson was not breathing and CPR was started by Jail Medical Staff.
As a result of the autopsy, the pathologist determined the cause of death was sudden cardiorespiratory arrest.
