The Fire in Red Bluff which began around 3 p.m. behind the Burger King on Antelope Boulevard this afternoon has burned about 50 acres along the east bank of the Sacramento River into the “Spider Island” area. Cal Fire, Along with Red Bluff City Fire, have battled the flames all afternoon, preventing them from damaging homes, business and apartments mostly along Sale Lane. Another fire around the same time destroyed a home and garage and spread into the vegetation of Peach Lane off Antelope Boulevard. That fire is now out. There are no reports of injuries from either fire. All road closures and evacuation orders have been lifted. (UPDATE) 5:00-
As of 5 p.m. there was no information officer assigned to the incident. The dispatchers at Cal-Fire, Red Bluff City Police and the CHP could not provide a detailed list of closures or evacuations. We do know that the on and off ramps of Inerstate-5 at Antelope Boulevard are closed, and Sale Lane is closed. Del Taco, Food Maxx, the Best Western Inn, and the Red Bluff Apartments have been evacuated. the Red Cross has set up a shelter at the Tehama County Fairgrounds. Evacuees are encouraged to bring prescription medications, clothing, and bedding if possible.
Cal-Fire Tehama County with help from Red Bluff City Fire are battling a vegetation fire that started behind Burger King on Antelope Boulevard and has burned at least 15 acres along the east side of the Sacramento River...and into the "spider island" area.
It started at about 3 p.m. this afternoon. Homes in the Sale Lane and Gilmore Road area are threatened. Traffic control is in place on antelope boulevard. This, as crews remain at the scene of a house and garage fire that spread to vegetation on peach tree lane in Red Bluff. that fire started at about 1 p.m. No injuries are reported from either fire.
The Best Western Plus Antelope Inn and the Red Bluff Apartments are being evacuated due to the blaze. Evacuees are being sent to the Tehama District Fair grounds on Antelope Boulevard east of the fire. The Red Bluff Police Department is handling the evacuations.
