The man charged with shooting a Red Bluff teen last July has been sentenced to state prison.

The Tehama County District Attorney's Office said Wednesday that 18-year-old Anthony Nahinu was sentenced to 15 years in state prison for the shooting of a 15-year-old girl.

Sheriff’s deputies say he opened fire near the Red Bluff Diversion Dam after a fight broke out between a group of people.

Prosecutors say that is when Nahinu shot the teen girl in the back.

He turned himself in, in August after being on the run for more than a month.

The victim survived the shooting but was initially in critical condition.
