A Yuba City man has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence following a crash on Highway 99 that left a teenage girl seriously injured.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the driver of a white Chevy Lumina was traveling northbound on Highway 99 in Chico at 11:20 a.m. when he lost control, flipping the vehicle on the shoulder of the road.
A 17-year-old Oroville girl was ejected from the vehicle and suffered major injuries. She was not wearing a seat belt. A second passenger was uninjured.
The driver of the Chevy, 24-year-old Andrew Mundinger, of Yuba City was arrested at the scene on suspicion of driving under the influence.
Highway 99 traffic was gridlocked for about an hour.
