On February 13, Action News Now aired a story about gas thefts that were plaguing the southern part of Butte County, and further south to Marysville. Surveillance video of a black pick-up truck with distinctive decals on the hood, and a trailer were posted on Facebook and shared more than 100 times. According to Oroville Police, the next day, Edward Anthony Delito Valila, Jr. was pulled over by the California Highway Patrol in Yuba City, and was found to be driving on a suspended license. The CHP called Dick's Towing, and a tow truck driver recognized Valila's black pick-up from the video shared on Facebook. He called Oroville Police, who arrested Valila, following an investigation. They say Valila had stolen the white trailer from a supply store, and he was already on probation in Placer County after being convicted of stealing gas. Oroville Police say they may make more arrests in connection with this case.
