Suspected fire station burglar arrested

Butte County authorities have arrested a man suspected of burglarizing Cal Fire Station 25 twice in the past two months.

The latest robbery happened on Thursday June 18, and resulted in the loss of roughly $4,000 worth of equipment.

Investigators reviewed surveillance footage, and deputies recognized the burglar as 44-year-old Freidrich "Fred" Muniaerts, of Yankee Hill.

Early Friday morning Butte County Sheriff's Deputies arrested Muniaerts at America's Best Value in on Broadway Street in Chico.

A subsequent search of his room yielded 73 grams of methamphetamine.

Muniaerts has been booked into the Butte County Jail on suspicion of residential burglary, second degree commercial burglary, possession of stolen property, possession of a controlled substance for sale, and violation of Post Release Community Supervision. He is being held without bail.
