A 37-year-old man wanted for allegedly raping a minor in Washington was arrested in the City of Shasta Lake early Monday morning.

A Shasta County sheriff's deputy spotted a suspicious GMC Suburban parked near Miller's Mobile Home Park on Cascade Boulevard around 12:40 a.m. Monday and ran a registration check. After running the license plate the deputy found that the vehicle's owner, Jay Spear, had a felony warrant out for first degree forcible rape of a minor and sodomy on a minor.

Spear was not in the vehicle at the time, but the deputy monitored the area throughout the night hoping to spot Spear.

At 4:43 a.m., the deputy found Spear sitting in the front of the vehicle on the 2000 block of Rosamond Street and was able to take him into custody.

Spear was arrested on the felony warrant out of Washington and booked into the Shasta County Jail.
