Fayetteville, North Carolina police arrested a person Tuesday afternoon on charges of car theft and kidnapping after a woman reported her car stolen with two children inside.

A mother called 911 just after 1 p.m. to report that her car, with a newborn and a 2-year-old inside, had been stolen.

"Somebody just stole my car with my kids in it," she told the 911 dispatcher. "I just want my kids. I just want my kids to be safe."

Police said the woman left her car running outside a Pizza Hut while she went inside. When she returned, the car, with her children inside, was missing.

A second person placed a call to 911 about two minutes later, saying they saw the car "flying down the road" and nearly hitting another vehicle.

"This car is going to hurt somebody," the caller said.
