Authorities have arrested a man suspected of fatally stabbing an Oroville resident outside a Chico home last week, Chico police confirmed Tuesday afternoon.

30-year-old Michael Patrick Anderson was arrested Tuesday afternoon following a police chase through Glenn County. Anderson led authorities on a brief chase before he crashed his vehicle into a ditch near County Road 29 and County Road XX.

After crashing, Anderson reportedly fled from the car into a nearby home, law enforcement agents from the California Highway Patrol, the Glenn County Sheriff's Office and the Chico Police Department surrounded the area and ordered Anderson to exit the house. Anderson eventually complied with officers orders and was taken into custody.

Chico police say Anderson stabbed 37-year-old Joel Eldridge, of Oroville, after a fight outside a home on the corner of Mulberry Street and W. 23rd Street last Thursday.

Anderson is being taken to a local hospital for evaluation and then will be booked into the Butte County Jail on suspicion of murder.
