Suspect in Bank Robbery Arrested After Short Pursuit

A Chico man robbed a local bank but was arrested just minutes after the bank robbery.
Chico Police responded to the Tri Counties Bank on the 700 block of Mangrove Avenue at 12:40 p.m.
According to the police, the man has entered the bank and told the teller he had a gun, demanding money.
The suspect took off with money and ran from the bank.
Chico police officers and Butte County Sheriff's deputies searched the nearby area. A short time later, a police officer located a while male matching the description of robbery suspect in the Lindo Channel near Manzanita Court.
When the officer tried to stop the suspect, Sean McCarthy, 48, started to run the officer released a K9 on the suspect.
The suspect was arrested after fighting with the K9 and officers.
Police officers found money from the robbery on McCarthy.
Police say no gun was scene during the robbery or was located.
McCarthy was taken to Enloe Medical Center to be examined but will be taken into the Butte County Jail.
McCarthy face charges of robbery, assaulting a police K9, and resisting officers, according to the press release.
