Authorities have identified a 49-year-old man they believe killed a woman whose body was found in west Chico Monday morning.

A murder arrest warrant was issued by the Butte County Sheriff's Office Wednesday for Christopher Warren Swihart. He is being sought for the alleged murder of a 55-year-old Chico woman. The woman's name is being withheld pending family notification.

Authorities are not releasing much information on the case, but have said they believe Swihart and the vicitm knew each other.

Swihart is about 5 feet 5 inches tall, 180 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. Detectives are also searching for Swihart's truck, a 1989 primer grey Chevy pick-up truck with a white or chrome tool box in the truck bed, California license plate 8E28926.

The investigation began when a man called 911 just after 8 a.m. Monday and told dispatchers that he had found a body in front of his home on Rose Avenue, between Oak Park Avenue and Chico River Road.

Anyone with information on Swihart's whereabouts is asked to call the Butte County Sheriff's Office.
