Shasta County sheriff’s deputies have arrested a man in connection with a Friday afternoon road rage shooting in east Redding.

Deputies say Mark Lamonica, 25, fired at least three rounds at another man’s car in a road rage incident in the area of Viking Way and Abernathy Lane.

The victim called authorities just before 1 p.m. and said that after a driver, later identified as Lamonica, cut him off, he threw his hands in the air causing Lamonica to respond by firing at least three shots. Two of the shots struck the victim’s car.

The victim followed Lamonica eastbound on Old 44 toward Palo Cedro until deputies caught up. Lamonica proceeded to lead them on a brief pursuit before abandoning his car behind Good Times Pizza in Palo Cedro. He was arrested a short time later at the Palo Cedro Park.

Lamonica has been booked into the Butte County Jail on weapons, assault and narcotics charges.
