Suspect arrested after morning high speed chase

The Butte County Sheriff’s Office have a man in custody after sending sheriff deputies on a high speed chase in Chico.

Deputies received the call at about 6:45 this morning of a burglary at Tuscan Ridge Golf Course on the Skyway.

George Ellis III, 42 of Chico fled westbound on a motorcycle.

Officers located the motorcycle matching the description of Ellis in the area of Bruce Road and the Skyway, when the officer tried to conduct a traffic stop Ellis took off driving erratically.

The suspect entered Bidwell Park off of Centennial Avenue, Sheriff Deputies set up a perimeter around the park. Witnesses alerted law enforcement they had seen the suspect hide the motorcycle and fled the area on foot.

Deputies were able to catch and arrest Ellis.

Ellis is being charged with burglary and possession of stolen property, arrested and booked into the Butte County Jail.

The Tuscan Ridge Golf Course spoke with Action News Now over the phone and stated the suspect broke into the administration office looking for cash but was unsuccessful.
