A group of Shasta County residents, including Sheriff Tom Bosenko and Supervisor Les Baugh, held a press conference Thursday morning on Measure A, an ordinance that would ban outdoor marijuana grows in unincorporated areas of Shasta County.
Bosenko, Baugh and other supporters voiced their support, citing the impacts of marijuana cultivation on neighborhoods, property rights and the youth of Shasta County.
As the press conference went on inside the Shasta County Chemical People's office citizens for "No on Measure A" protested their exclusion from the event.
Proponents of Measure A point to crime and detrimental effects to people and the environment with such grows such grows. Opponents feel that restrictions from stopping the grows will infringe on their rights, and make it harder for medical marijuana patients to obtain their medication.
