"Superheroes" wanted for CASA Run in Bidwell Park

The CASA Superhero Run takes place on Saturday, September 19th, in Chico's Lower Bidwell Park.

CASA stands for the Court Appointed Special Advocate program, which links court appointed adult volunteers with foster children, to advocate on behalf of the child as their case moves through the courts. These are children who wind up in "the system" through no fault of their own.

It is administered locally through Northern Valley Catholic Services.

The Superhero Run is a chance for anyone to make a difference for abused and neglected children. It's a family friendly event and costumes are encouraged. Gold capes will be provided to the "little heroes" who take part.

The event includes a photo booth and pancake breakfast. The Superhero 10K (chip-timed) gets underway at 8 a.m. on Saturday, followed by the Superhero 5K Run/Walk at 8:15 a.m. and the Little Heroes Dash at 8:55 a.m. It's all centered at the One-Mile Recreation Area.

You can register online at www.run4casa.com or at Fleet Feet in Chico on Friday, September 18th. You can also register on race day between 7 and 8:30 a.m.
