In this week's Subway Scholar Athlete segment, we focus on not one, but two.. a double dosage.. from Durham. Best friends who help each other shine scholastically and athletically. Action News Now's Ross Field has the story.
Best friends Savannah Southam and Mackenzie Paddock are juniors at Durham High School. They are two of the school's top students and star athletes.
The dynamic duo's resume is impressive for both: Mackenzie has a 4.0 GPA, Savannah has a 3.8 GPA and takes one AP course. Both are involved in Interact Club and perform community service. Savannah wants to get into physical therapy, while Mackenzie wants to be a teacher.
Mackenzie and Savannah play volleyball and basketball. They are two-time section champions in basketball and will be gunning for their third Friday at Mt. Shasta in the Div-V section final from Butte. A victory would also mean a four-peat for Durham.
They are Mackenzie Paddock and Savannah Southam, Action News Now's Scholar Athletes of the Week presented by Subway.
