Sometimes, it takes years for things to fall into place.
Red Bluff High School twin golfers Sofia and Summer Frantz have been honing their craft for several years, and now as seniors, they're reaching their peak performance.
The twins helped the Spartans win Monday's Section Championship at Table Mountain Golf Course in Oroville.
Sofia played her way to the individual title, firing a career-best round of 83, while Summer shot an 89, earning All-Section honors herself.
"It was definitely very satisfying, we've been working towards it for a very long time. We just wanted to get that banner in the gym, so it was very exciting," said Summer.
Exciting and remarkable. Before the twins first came to Red Bluff High as freshman, there wasn't enough interest to field a girls golf team. Now, behind #1 and #2, they're the area's best.
"We started it up again so it's nice to know that we finished off our high school golfing career with a section title," said Sofia.
But Sofia and Summer aren't just leaders on the link, they lead in the classroom as well.
Sofia owns a 4.1 weighted GPA, while Summer carries a 4.0. When it comes to school they're joined at the hip.
"I take the same classes as my sister takes and I have every year," Summer said.
"We're definitely study buddies, it's always nice to have a best friend there in the classroom," said Sofia.
They plan on attending the same college too.
Several schools in the Midwest and on the East Coast have already offered them golfing scholarships but they're unsure if they'll play.
Regardless they'll always have a special memory of resurrecting a golf program and capturing a section title.
