For Chico seniors Cole Fiori and Lukas Bolen, baseball is more than a pasttime. It's a passion that's been passed down from their fathers.
"He showed me the game when I was about three years old and ever since then I've been in love with it. I never want to do anything else," said Fiori.
"Baseball is one of the biggest things that bonds my father and I. It's a year-round thing and he's always there to help me," said Bolen
Their father-son duos each a home-run, but both Bolen and Fiori have another family; their team.
"I like that I'm out there with my brothers every single game, they come out here and put a smile on my face. There's no other team I'd rather be with," said Fiori.
"Even if we get mad at each other it goes away quickly because we're all a family," added Bolen.
A family that's dominated as Chico has started the season 10-1.
Fiori paces the Panthers' offensive attack, leading the team with a .545 batting average. And Bolen has been a beast on the bump going 2-0 with a 0.54 ERA!
But, they're both putting up solid numbers in the classroom as well. Fiori sports a 3.67 GPA, while Bolen carries a 3.37 mark.
"Academics is what carries you through your life to get you a good job to support your family," said Bolen.
"Baseball not going to be there always for me and school and my life will be," added Fiori.
A couple of complete players striving for greatness both on and off the diamond.
