Our latest Subway Scholar Athlete knows how to win. Shasta's Molly Ross is a three-sport athlete who's captured multiple section titles all while maintaining success in the classroom. Action News Now's Ross Field filed this report.
What a year it's been for Shasta's Molly Ross.
"I don't know if it has set in completely yet," said Ross.
She helped the Wolves capture section titles in volleyball and basketball.
But her most recent athletic achievement is what she's most proud of. Last week Ross ran away with the 100-meter and 300-meter hurdles titles at the Northern Section Track and Field Championships at West Valley High School.
"It's really awesome to be a part of these teams and I didn't really expect all this coming into the year," said Ross.
But don't let Ross fool you, she's much more than a highly successful athlete with a humble attitude. Academically, she's involved in student government, takes two AP courses, and carries a 3.9 GPA.
"I want to go far in life and I want to go far in sports, and you have to have good grades to do sports. For me, school always comes before sports, that's just how I was raised," said Ross.
She has good parents and a good attitude, two keys to her success.
Ross says she wants to attend college in southern California. But she has plenty of time to decide on her future. Ross just wrapped up her junior year and with all that she's already accomplished, one can't help but think about what she has in store for an encore as a senior.
"Honestly I think it just motivates me to do better, to meet my expectations or do better than them and I think that will definitely help me get through my senior year," said Ross.
