On Monday, Lynch committed to Chico State.
"When I went there I just had that feeling," said Lynch. "This is it, this is the place."
A place that's close to home and a gym he knows firsthand.
Lynch led the Patriots to back-to-back section titles at Acker in 2012 and 2013.
"Their gym is awesome, it's loud, has good bounce, I've had three high school games there that a lot of people haven't so I have that experience," added Lynch.
On top of little experience, Lynch carries with him a legacy of success.
He scored more than 1,400 points in his prep career, and this past season he was selected as a member of the all-Northern Section first team.
The 5'11" guard also dominated the Lions All-Star game, pumping in 38 points against the league's best players.
Liberty Christian coach Todd Franklin says the 'Cats are getting a gamer.
"They're getting a kid that's never going to quit, people said he was too short, too slow, not good enough passer and everytime someone said that he just went back to the gym and worked on stuff he wasn't supposedly good at, and now he's a really really good basketball player," said Franklin.
A good basketball player who's joining a really good program.
Chico State advanced all the way to the Elite Eight in 2014, it's deepest run in program history.
Lynch says that success is a big reason why he's a Wildcat.
"I'm excited to be part of a program that's on it's ups," said Lynch.
In order to fine-tune his skills, Lynch said he wants to redshirt.
As far as his education is concerned, he's still undecided, but this young man with a 3.4 GPA is more than ready to begin his career at Chico State.
"It's a dream come true," said Lynch.
