The Paradise Adventist Boys Basketball Team is in the midst of a great run, with a record of 25-3 and 16 straight wins, the squad appears to be firing on all cylinders.
Brandon Dudar says, "We just work hard in practice, when you put that much time and energy into practicing hard it really shows on the court and then the coaching has had a big influence on that. If I had to say, those are the two biggest things."
And while he's too humble to say it, another big thing has been the play of Brandon Dudar. The senior is leading the team in scoring at 16.7 points per game and rebounds at 12 per game.
Dudar says, "I've just been doing my job. I rebound the ball, I run down the court ahead of everybody else and try and get fast break points. It's just working out."
Cougars Head Coach Jason Eyer says, "He's just a hard worker, he does all the little things that you'd want out of a player. Never wants the limelight, he just does all the little things and that's what makes him good."
Dudar is also good when it comes to taking care of his studies. He's got a 3.87 gpa and will be heading to Walla Walla University in Washington next year. He eventually hopes to become an orthodontist.
Dudar says, "I wanna eventually end up in dental school and that's not something where you can goof off in high school and then plan on working really hard in college, cause they're gonna look at high school transcripts too, so I figure if I put in the work here and I put in the work in college I should be able to make it."
Before he reaches that though Dudar has another goal and this one lies on the basketball court. On Friday his Cougars will head to Butte College to face Liberty Christian for the Division VI Section Title. While Paradise Adventist has made it this far before, they've never won the championship. As you can imagine being a part of the first team to do so would be pretty special.
Dudar says, "I think that'd be so incredible. Ever since I was in the 5th and 6th grade it's always been one of my dreams to play on the basketball team and make it all the way to the championship. When I was in 8th grade, that was the first time our team, as far as I know, went to the section championshp game, and I remember I got out of going to a music event just so I could go watch the game... it'd just be really incredible to be a part of that."
