In our latest Subway Scholar Athlete of the Week segment, we introduce you to a Paradise soccer player who's reaching her goals both on and off the pitch.
Paradise High senior Ali Rank is a happy-go-lucky girl who loves being from a small town.
"I love Paradise, I love all my friends I've made here. I think being in this small community kind've shapes you into like a different kind of person than people who live in the city," said Rank.
Rank loves soccer as well.
It's a sport she picked up at a very young age.
"I've been playing soccer since I was four years old and it's helped me build confidence and establish friendships. All of my closest friends play soccer with me and it's also good because it keeps me active," said Rank.
As a junior last year, Rank enjoyed a breakout season, earning All-League honorable mention.
The Bobcats finished 14-7 overall and won their first postseason game in 12 seasons.
They haven't slowed down a bit this year, sporting an impressive mark of 8-4 through a dozen games.
"We lost quite a few seniors last year but we're still playing great. This is definitely the best season that I've played with this team. I think we're playing really well," said Rank.
The pitch isn't the only place where Rank puts up high marks.
In the classroom, she carries a 4.2 GPA.
"I think it's really important to be well-rounded, and I actually think the more you have on your plate, it's easier to balance it, I like being busy," said Rank
Following high school, Rank wants to attend a 4-year university and study physical therapy.
She says she's looking forward to spreading her wings and experiencing what life has to offer.
