UPDATE (11:08 a.m.)- Marie Fickert, Chico Fire Investigator, has told Action News Now the substance located in the creek near Charmichael Drive in Chico this morning has been deemed too diluted to pose a toxic threat to the waterway. Officials have not identified exactly what the substance is, but have diverted some of the water to prevent the substance from traveling further down the waterway. City officials have indicated the investigation is ongoing.
Chico Fire & a hazmat team are investigating a white substance found in the creek off Carmichael Drive.
Chico Fire's Marie Fickert says they don't know at this time what the substance is but are investigating to determine that.
The call came in around 8 Thursday morning.
