Strong storm system batters the North State

Dec 11, 2014 8:54 AM by Cort Klopping

A strong storm system heading towards California from the Pacific will continue to hammer the north state with rain, and strong winds today.

Some areas of the valley have already recorded over 2 inches of rain, with 3 to 6 inches of rain possible today. The heaviest precipitation has occured in the northern end of the valley, but has now spread throughout the entire valley.

Wind is also a big factor in your Thursday forecst, with gusts up to 65mph out of the Southeast in the valley, and 75mph out of the Southeast in the Northern Sierra.

The heavy rain has already caused flooding throughout the region this morning, with the flood watch now extending into Butte County. Strong winds, and heavy rain will also increase the likelyhood of power outages throughout the day.

We will continue to monitor, and provide you with the latest details on the forecast throughout the day on, and on our facebook page.
