String of Chico school burglaries continues

Pleasant Valley High School is the latest to be hit in a string of church and school burglaries across Chico.

School officials say the latest break-in happened at Pleasant Valley, on East Avenue, sometime between 3 a.m. and 6 a.m. Sunday. The suspect, described as a younger man, broke into the school's front office and 16 classrooms, making off with more than $1,000 worth of money, gift cards and other miscellaneous items.

On Friday night, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Mariposa Avenue was ransacked and the week before thieves stole $300 and an iPad from Neal Dow Elementary School.

Over the past two months burglars have also hit Bidwell Presbyterian Church near downtown Chico, the Christian Life Center Church, Marigold Elementary School, and Sierra View Elementary School.
