A Gridley Man Airlifted To Hospital After Suffering Burns To Body

A Gridley man is recovering tonight after he suffers severe burns to his body in a morning fire.

Cal Fire responded at 9:00 this morning on the 300 block of Washington Street of a man who was on fire.

When firefighters arrived at the scene they found a man who had second to third degree burns, Gridley Police officers helped extinguish the fire.

 The man suffered burns to 60 percent  of his body and was airlifted UC Davis Regional Burn Center.

Investigators say the man was burning a pile of leaves and sticks, which may have ignited his wheelchair which spread to his clothes.

A neighbor say the man was using some type of flammable liquid which may have gotten on his wheelchair igniting the man’s clothes as well.  

Neighbors say the man was disabled and used the wheelchair to get around places.
