Storm hits the North State, thousands without power

Pacific Gas and Electric is reporting thousands of power outages across the North State.

According to the PG&E outage map, more than 10,000 customers across the North State are without power. Eastern Shasta County has been hit hard with more than 1,000 customers in the Burney and Hat Creek area and another 700 in the Shingletown area have lost power. Another 6,000 customers near Chester and the Lake Almanor area are without power. About 1500 PG&E customers in Yuba City have lost power as well.

According to the Burney Intermountain News, large trees have closed portions of Highway 89 from Cassel Road to Old Station and the California Highway Patrol is reporting downed power lines throughout Burney and are currently in the area of Toronto Ave and Tall Timber Street.

The Fall River Joint Unified School District in Shasta County has closed for the day, citing an area power outage and treacherous road conditions.
